Tips For Organizing Your Home Office and Your Life
By
Whether you actually have a home office or it’s just the family computer room or a tiny corner in your bedroom every home based business owner needs a place where they can work. And keeping that area organized is extremely important if you want to get as much work done as possible. Most people lead such busy lives today that once they find the time to work their business everything needs to be as organized at possible to get the most work done. So here are some helpful tips for organizing your home office.
1. Keep Track Of Call Backs
There are going to be times when someone isn’t able to talk to you about their business for one reason or another. In that case you need to schedule a time to call them back. This is extremely important. You must be organized so that you make sure that you call the person back exactly when you say you’re going to. That means being very careful about the way you organized your call backs.
Some people will want to organize that kind of thing on a computer program and some people find it easier to use something like a day planner. Whatever you use is fine as long as it is always available to you and easy to keep track of. Nothing will put a prospect off more than not calling them back when you’re suppose to.
2. When Possible Use A Different Computer
It can sometimes be easier to use a different computer just for business. Yes, many people run their home businesses off of a family computer however when you do that you run the risk of things getting lost or not being able to work when you want to because your son is working on something for school or your daughter won’t get off of Myspace. So if it’s at all possible it can be really helpful to have a laptop or desktop computer that is strictly for working your business and keeping track of things.
3. Keep All Your Leads In One Place
Even after you’ve called a lead you might still want to keep it filed away. That way you can call them back in 6 months or a year and see if they might be interested in the business now. People’s situations change a lot during a years time so don’t throw away old leads just because they didn’t sign up the first time you called them.
You can keep track of older leads by using a piece of paper and keeping them in your filing cabinet OR you can do it on your computer. Just know that if your computer crashes for some reason all those leads will be gone forever and that could cost you money.
4. Have Your Personal Schedule Visible
You don’t want to schedule a call back with someone at the same time you’re suppose to be at your daughters softball game. So its’ a good idea to have your weekly or monthly personal schedule hung up on the wall somewhere where you can easily see it. That way you won’t schedule something for your business when you already have plans.
By keeping your home office good and organized you can get more work done whenever you need to and that will translate into more money for your business.
