<p>I have heard it said that the definition of &#8216; SALES &#8216; is &#8221; the transfer of enthusiasm from one person to another&#8221;</p>
<p>Genuine enthusiasm about your products, your company, and most importantly, about helping your customers find the perfect product to solve their problems is absolutely essential.  Convey this enthusiasm and you will  differentiate yourself from your competition.</p>
<p>Think back to the last time that you experienced outstanding, enthusiastic service from a sales or customer service person.   What was it about that person in particular that was so amazing?  I bet you remember them because of something they did that exceeded your expectations.   Most of the time when this happens it is the sheer enthusiasm that enables this person to go the extra mile.</p>

<p>I am not refering to the &#8216;website&#8217; that your company provides for you.  Those sites are very limited in what you can do with them.  Some folks say that they are not allowed to have a website of their own.  It is true that you may not be able to have a &#8216;business&#8217; website to advertise your business or product, however there is nothing stopping you from having a &#8216;personal&#8217; website or blog.</p>

<p>If all you do is answer your e-mail promptly, respond to queries and conduct some sort of business over e-mail, you will be achieving more in one day than most websites do in a year!</p>
<h3>Life Without Websites: C&#8217;est Possible!</h3>
<p>Paper was the most effective method of making sure things were read &#8211; until e-mail came along. If you look at e-mail as a dynamic form of paper, you will be able to achieve the same (if not better) results in getting your message across convincingly. Unfortunately, most people look at e-mail as a letter writing tool instead of using it as a communication tool.</p>
<h3>How to Use E-mail Powerfully!</h3>
<p>The key to e-mail is to have a client database in the first place. Not just any database, but people who have worked with you. Secondly, it must be permission based. People must see your e-mail as being of help to them in their daily lives. Once you have their permission, you can e-mail them on a regular pre-agreed basis and be sure that they appreciate you keeping in touch with them.</p>

<p>People don&#8217;t care about you or what you&#8217;re selling. All they&#8217;re concerned about is themselves. If your e-mail isn&#8217;t helping them in some way, they’ll read it once and trash it. You may never get a second chance! Make sure, your e-mail is about them, them, them!</p>

<p>I just got finished connecting my blog to my email list of around 2000 home show party sales consultants.  I did this so that when I post something new on this blog it will automatically go out to everyone on my email list.  This way no one misses anything.</p>
<p>This brought to mind a question that I want to ask you&#8230;<span id="more-67"></span></p>
<p>How easily can you contact ALL of your hostesses, past hostesses, guests, downline, etc&#8230;</p>
<p>Would you have to manually type each of their email addresses into an email to reach them?</p>
<p>If you send out a mailing, do you have to manually write each address on the label?</p>
<p>Imagine if you had ALL of your previous hostesses and guests in ONE email list.  You could very easily and quickly pump out an email telling them about the &#8216;limited time special offer&#8217; that you are doing this month for anyone who holds a book show/party.  Instant Sales!</p>
<p>We will talk more about how to automate your email list in the future.</p>

<p>It is important to stay focused when working on building your business. You need to be doing things that really matter.  And one of the areas that really matters is increasing your value.</p>
<p>Becoming better at who you are and what you do.  Not just in your &#8216;business life&#8217;, but in your personal life as well.</p>
<p>You should balance both &#8216;lives&#8217; by adopting a personal and business growth strategy.<span id="more-54"></span></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800000;">Personal &amp; Business Growth Strategy</span></strong></p>
<p>I have books, magazines, and stuff I have printed from the internet everywhere.  I have them in my car, my brief case, my kitchen table, the bed room, my office, and probably places that I don&#8217;t even remember.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I am constantly, maybe too often, surfing the web looking for self help, business education and marketing information.</p>
<p>If you want to make your business explode – increase your intellectual breadth and depth in a diversity of areas.</p>
<p>Mine include…</p>
<ul>
<li>Business</li>
<li>Online business</li>
<li>Marketing</li>
<li>Leadership</li>
<li>Public Speaking</li>
<li>Health</li>
<li>Diabetes (Type1)</li>
<li>Fitness</li>
<li>Youth Soccer Coaching</li>
<li>Website Development</li>
</ul>
<p>The point of all this is&#8230;   I have read hundreds of books and listened to hundreds of hours of training on a wide range of subjects.   That is the leading factor in my success.</p>
<p>Every day I find myself reading or listening to something that sparks a new idea in my little brain.</p>
<p>Most of you were probably sold on the idea that if you just followed your companies plan you would make tons of money.  How&#8217;s that working out for you?  That&#8217;s what I thought.</p>
<p>When you don&#8217;t make as much as you expected, they tell you to just work harder.   Call some more friends or relatives, etc&#8230;</p>
<p>You can certainly make money by ONLY following what &#8216;the company&#8217;, your branch leaders, or other consultants teach you. But don’t you want MORE than that? Don’t you want to create an intellectual and educational vault that you can pull from at any moment.  A vault of information that you can use to figure out how to do better marketing, better recruiting, more sales.  Wouldn&#8217;t it be great to have a whole wealth of information that you could pass on to your own team of recruits?</p>
<p>Don’t you want to create a business based on your own ideas and concepts rather than regurgitating another’s thoughts?</p>
<p>A PBGS (Personal and Business Growth Strategy) shapes you into a more valuable and useful human being.</p>
<p>You should read one book for each sitcom you watch.</p>
<p>Two books for every sporting event you attend.</p>
<p>And so forth.</p>
<p>What you listen to, watch and read influence who you are. Who you are influences those around you.</p>
<p>You say, “BUT I just want to make money selling my product line.”</p>
<p>Really?</p>
<p>How many books have you STUDIED on sales? How many seminars on team building  have you attended and applied? Name two personal development books you have read recently.  How many educational products have you actually consumed, distilled and taken action on?????</p>
<p>What If I said, “I want to master the French language.” And you looked on my bookshelf and saw one book. Would you think I was serious?</p>
<p>What if you saw 10 books?</p>
<p>What if you saw 25 books, dictionaries, workbooks, DVDs and I told you I couldn&#8217;t go to dinner with you tonight because at a French class at the local college?</p>
<p>Ah…. Then you would say, “I guess you’re serious about learning French.”</p>
<p>You need a disciplined PBGS.  Invest in YOU.  Personally and professionally. You won’t just have a successful business, but you will have a significant life.</p>
<p>ASSIGNMENT: Go to your book shelf. If you were a guest in your home what would you say you were interested in? What would you say you were really serious about?</p>
<p>In a future post, we’ll look at figuring out your PBGS and two specific ways to approach it that will result in a massive explosion of your Home Show Party Sales business.</p>
<p>You may be thinking – <em>we’ll I’ve already tried reading all about sales, motivation, etc&#8230; and it hasn&#8217;t helped me out</em>. Part 2 will help with that as well.</p>
<p>Our purpose at Home Show Party Sales is to give you the tools you need to succeed in your business and personal life.  This idea of learning all you can does not just apply to your business.</p>
<p>If you are having trouble with your teenage child, get a book on teenage psychology.   Trouble with training your dog?  Look for videos on dog training.  Marriage problems?  Visit the library and read every book you can find on the subject.</p>
<p>Never stop educating your self.  Even if you have been doing this for a long time, there is always something new you can learn.</p>

<div>One of your main goals at each show should be to book at least one more (or two more) shows. Don&#8217;t be afraid to just come right out and ask each and every guest if they would like to host a show.</div>
<div>Here are a few excuses that you may here and a response that you can give.</p>
<p>1. My house is too small, my husband wouldn&#8217;t like it, I have no furniture -  Have it at a friends house, parents house, in a church basement, in a firehall, anywhere you can think of.<span id="more-36"></span></p>
<p>2. Just too expensive right now &#8211; Get each guest to bring something (food, snacks, drinks, etc&#8230;)</p>
<p>3. I can&#8217;t afford to buy anything anyways &#8211; This is the reason for having it in the first place! You earn free product!</p></div>
<div>4. No one would come! &#8211; Ask everyone at the current show if they would attend a show in a month or so if someone hosted another one. I am sure that most everyone will agree to attend.  Remind your prospective hostess that if she starts early telling everyone she knows she will have plenty of guests.   Tell her that you will help her get the word out. <em><strong>(In an upcoming post we will talk a lot about &#8216;hostess coaching&#8217;)</strong></em></div>
<div>5. I work fulltime, I don&#8217;t have time to host a party, I have too much going on. -  You found time to come to this party tonight. Your show will be in your house. Even easier because you don&#8217;t have to go anywhere.</div>
<div>6. I don&#8217;t really know anyone, I don&#8217;t have any friends &#8211; Perfect.  You can introduce yourself to your neighbors and co-workers and invite them to your party.</div>
<div>7. If they just say they are not interested, ask them why.  Then take it from there with the counter argument.</div>
<div>8. Kids are home. &#8211; Get an older sibling or neighbor to babysit.  Invite other moms to bring their kids also.</div>
</div>
<div>9. I am too busy! I just don&#8217;t want to do it. &#8211; Ok, No problem.  Have a book show instead.</div>
<div>
<div>Just think about what your business will look like a year from now if you were to book two additional shows at every one of your shows.   It may seem like this is an impossible goal, however what harm will it do to give it a shot.</div>
