Whether you actually have a home office or it’s just the family computer room or a tiny corner in your bedroom every home based business owner needs a place where they can work. And keeping that area organized is extremely important if you want to get as much work done as possible. Most people lead such busy lives today that once they find the time to work their business everything needs to be as organized at possible to get the most work done. So here are some helpful tips for organizing your home office.

1. Keep Track Of Call Backs

There are going to be times when someone isn’t able to talk to you about their business for one reason or another. In that case you need to schedule a time to call them back. This is extremely important. You must be organized so that you make sure that you call the person back exactly when you say you’re going to. That means being very careful about the way you organized your call backs.

Some people will want to organize that kind of thing on a computer program and some people find it easier to use something like a day planner. Whatever you use is fine as long as it is always available to you and easy to keep track of. Nothing will put a prospect off more than not calling them back when you’re suppose to.

2. When Possible Use A Different Computer

It can sometimes be easier to use a different computer just for business. Yes, many people run their home businesses off of a family computer however when you do that you run the risk of things getting lost or not being able to work when you want to because your son is working on something for school or your daughter won’t get off of Myspace. So if it’s at all possible it can be really helpful to have a laptop or desktop computer that is strictly for working your business and keeping track of things.

3. Keep All Your Leads In One Place

Even after you’ve called a lead you might still want to keep it filed away. That way you can call them back in 6 months or a year and see if they might be interested in the business now. People’s situations change a lot during a years time so don’t throw away old leads just because they didn’t sign up the first time you called them.

You can keep track of older leads by using a piece of paper and keeping them in your filing cabinet OR you can do it on your computer. Just know that if your computer crashes for some reason all those leads will be gone forever and that could cost you money.

4. Have Your Personal Schedule Visible

You don’t want to schedule a call back with someone at the same time you’re suppose to be at your daughters softball game. So its’ a good idea to have your weekly or monthly personal schedule hung up on the wall somewhere where you can easily see it. That way you won’t schedule something for your business when you already have plans.

By keeping your home office good and organized you can get more work done whenever you need to and that will translate into more money for your business.

A frequently asked question of someone who’s thinking about starting their own business is “how many hours will I have to work?”

Most people who come into home party plan businesses already have a full time job and possibly even a second job on top of that. They don’t have a lot of time to devote to their new business. I can tell you that if you work smarter you can attain success in a home based business in only about 7-10 hours per week.

Of course the more the work the faster the success will come so if you can work more that’s awesome. It just means that you’ll reach your goals that much faster. If you don’t have at least 7 hours a week to devote to your business you can still have success but it’s going to be a bit harder and possibly take a lot more time. Your business is just like a garden and if you tend to it regularly it will flower and bloom and if you don’t it will wither and die.

However, more importantly than how many hours you work is how consistently you are willing to work. If you work for 45 minutes on your business EVERY DAY that will be much better than working for 2 days straight and then doing nothing for a month… understand?

Consistency and finding a good rhythm is very important for true home based business success. That is not to say that you can’t take a day or two off now and then just don’t ignore your business for more than a week. Try to do something at least every day or every other day to help your business grow.

And the most important thing to remember is that you are entering this business to make money. In order to make money you must sell something. For most of us we sell this ‘something’ at home shows or home parties. You will of course need to be able to block out time to go do the actual home shows.

If you’re very low on free time just try to find little pockets of time wherever you can. Perhaps on your lunch hour at work or for an hour after your kids go to bed at night. Remember that the more hours you log in the beginning the less you’ll have to work down the road once your business really takes off.

You don’t have to work a lot of hours to find success in your home show party business. Just use the time you have and try to be consistent and make your new business a priority.

So much of “direct marketing / home show party sales” training has to do with how to get new recruits to sign up. The problem is that most people have no idea what to do once they actually GET someone to sign up!

Of course every team/company will be different. Some companies already have a training system in place. If there is already a system in place you can use the good parts from that system. If you follow these 10 tips you will train a team of people who will be extremely successful. And if they are successful, then you will be successful as well.

1.Develop a Monthly Budget – You can’t lay out a plan of action unless you know how much money your new team member has to use in a month. We are calling this ‘marketing money’. It could be used for new demo product, purchasing flyers and catalogs, postage for mailings, or what ever else it takes to promote and build the business. I recommend that unless they absolutely insist you tell them to spend no more than $50 – $100 per month on marketing. (And some people can spend much less than that) That’s because if someone is spending a lot of money they are going to expect big results and you can’t always promise big results your first couple of months.

Once you know how much money your new team member has to spend each month you can sit down and create to plan of action for them based on what they have to spend and how much time they have to do it all in.

2. Create a List of Friends and Family – I know, I know, people don’t like to do this anymore blah, blah, but honestly this is one of the best ways to get your new team member out there and talking to people. Talking with friends and family first is great practice and best of all it’s free. So no matter how much they protest don’t let them skip this step!

3. Get Them Plugged into a Team Environment – Whether it’s local opportunity meetings or a weekly team conference call find a way to get them plugged into a team like environment. You never want your new team member to feel alone or like they aren’t being looked after. Getting involved with a team will help them to stay motivated and focused.

4. Teach Them the Power of the No – If you’re in network marketing you’re going to hear the word “no”… a lot! Teach your new team member that hearing the word “no” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It just means that they’re that much closer to a “yes”! Sometimes people feel that if they get a “no” they must be doing something wrong which is not the case at all! Make sure they know that!

5. Call Them 3 Times Per Week – Your new team member should never, ever feel like they’re in this alone. For the first few months call them at least 3 times a week to check in on them, keep them motivated and give them new ideas!

6. Create Healthy Competition - Once you’ve established a team environment you might want to think about creating some sort of contest to keep them on their toes. Nothing motivates greatness more than a little competition!

7. Introduce Them To Your Upline/Branch Leaders/Managers/or whatever your company calls them. – This is especially important if you’re new to the business yourself. There are going to be questions that not even you may be able to answer. That’s why it’s so important to introduce your new team member to your upline.

8. Don’t Waste Your time With Weak Links - Look, there are always going to be people who aren’t pulling their own weight. You tell them to make and list and they don’t, you tell them to come to a meeting and they don’t. We’re not saying that you should cast these people aside completely. However, you don’t want to waste a ton of time trying to motivate someone who can complete the simplest tasks. Spend your time with the people who will do what it takes to succeed.

9. Be Honest - Never, ever lie about your income or success level. Always be an honest open book to your team members. This will establish trust and it’s just a good way to do business.

I hope this helps to get you started with your new recruits. While you can certainly make a decent amount of money strictly by selling your product yourself, the path to the big bucks is developing a strong team under you.

When thinking about motivation the first thing you need to do is create your space around you at work and at home. This space needs to remain simple and positive. The things around you have a lot to do with the way you feel and if you will be motivated or stuck in a funk.

Your office space should contain and display items that make you feel positive about life and about reaching goals. If you have goals and things you would like to do it might be a good idea to post these things on the wall of your office or your cubicle. This way you have a constant reminder of the things you would eventually like to do.

Only you know where you would like to be in the future. You should create your space as a constant and positive reminder that you are working to get there. Create a positive atmosphere around you no matter where you are. This also includes the car you drive. If you spend many hours in the car commuting everyday make it a positive space. This means clean it up. Don’t drive around a depressing vehicle that is full of trash and paperwork. Get your car detailed and begin to take care of it. You would be surprised how good you will feel when you clean up your car.

A clean home and clean office space make a really big deal when you need motivation. If you find yourself sitting in mounds of paperwork you might have the attitude you are never going to complete the things you need done. A messy workspace can be frustrating and depressing. It may cause you to procrastinate and even be disorganized with your thoughts as well as your work.

A messy and dirty home can be depressing and disabling. Many people will sit around procrastinating for hours in a messy home. It is amazing how good a clean home can make you feel. The best thing you can do is clean up your home. You will feel great and ready to take on anything. Get rid of those clothes which have been sitting in the closet for years that you haven’t worn once. Clean out the mess in the shed and the garage. Don’t just wipe down the counters and do the dishes. Clean house means create a new space that is positive and ready for the new to come into your home. Get rid of all of the old.

The space you spend your time in includes your car, home, and the office space you work in. It has a lot to do with the way you feel and the attitude you have when you wake up in the morning. Clean up the spaces you live in and make a positive atmosphere for you to enjoy and want to have a good day. You will finally see the goals as achievable rather than sit around thinking about them.

Stay Tuned for Part 3…

Motivation is what keeps us going. It is the reason people succeed
and the reason people fail. Motivation is the drive someone has to
complete a task. The ingredients of motivation are combined with
many factors which include simplicity, attitude, the people you
hang around, the way you think, knowing yourself, helping other
people and so much more.

The purpose of this post and tomorrows post are to take you through methods you can practice on a daily basis to remain motivated. These techniques can help you feel better about yourself in everything you do. You
can take these methods with you when you go to work and when you
are at home.

Motivation is the spark everyone needs to make it throughout the
day, to set and meet goals, and more. Without motivation you will
fail. When you have apathy toward something you are not motivated
because you couldn’t care either way. This is the worst attitude
you can have because it isn’t negative either. Someone who feels
this way isn’t capable of achieving anything because they don’t
care if they do or not. If you are feeling this way this e-book is
exactly what you need to help you overcome your attitude and begin
feeling motivated again.

When you know how to remain motivated with yourself you can also
help others because your attitude will be contagious. When you
practice daily motivational techniques eventually they will come to
you naturally. At first some of these methods may be difficult for
you to do or to remember. It will take time for you to begin to

Are You Challenged?

Individuals running their own business who utilize their homes as office space face a challenge that does not directly involve work. It is their ability to focus on work and free themselves of any idea that they can slack off because of the lack of pressure. However, if you do intend to make a living out of your home based business, then you need to be professional in your use of home office as well.

Designing Your Home Office

Trivial as it may seem, focusing on proper home office design can contribute to your productivity at home. You must begin by deciding on which part of the house you need to setup your office. An important consideration to make is that this space must provide you with enough privacy to concentrate on your work. This is also important in warding off any form of interruption that may arise while you are working.

Then, come up with a design that enables you to maximize the space available within your office. It should be able to provide organization and elicit productivity. You need to provide areas where you can keep important documents or files, to prevent your children from destroying them in case they manage to sneak into your office.

Develop a Working Schedule

Creating schedule will help provide the organization you need to become productive with work at home. As opposed to working a regular 9 to 5 job, it is easy to find yourself working until the wee hours at home. There is added pressure when it comes to your schedule. You have to juggle your time between your family, your work, and taking care of yourself.

By creating a defined schedule, it will help ensure that all tasks are done and accomplished, and allow you to balance each part of your life.

Balance Work and Family

One of the biggest misconception about running your own business from home is that it is not as demanding as “a regular” office job. Truth is, it requires more attention and work on your part. If you are not careful you will have multiple interruptions from your family and friends while doing work. The best way to prevent this is to let your family and friends know what your schedule is so that they can refrain from disturbing you during working hours. Let them understand when you need to work and when you are available to them for recreational activities.

Know Your Priorities

Recognizing your priority tasks and accomplishing them first will help you move on easily to other tasks. Doing so will help reduce the amount of pressure and stress that is entailed with trying to beat a deadline. This is a very likely occurrence for people working at home since they tend to relax and exert less effort with work, especially with lack of proper motivation.

The best way to prioritize your activities is to identify activities that will lead to sales and money. If you have a choice between organizing your inventory or getting this months catalogs ready to be mailed, obviously the catalogs are going to be the activity that takes priority. However, you will need to make time at some point to get the inventory organized.

Give Yourself a Break

Whether you are working or doing some other productive activities, it is important to give yourself a break from time to time. When you overwork yourself, you tend to wear out and you consequently reduce your performance and productivity. Therefore, it is advisable to allow yourself enough rest and regain the energy you need to tackle on whatever tasks you need to do.

Most people who are in a home based business are looking and searching for a way to take their business to the next level. If you want to do that you need look no further than looking at yourself. When you improve yourself you’ll totally be able to improve your business almost overnight.

It’s not always easy but it’s always worth it. Improving yourself doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with you or that you aren’t good at what you’re doing. But people should constantly be improving themselves if they want to continue to grow in their business.

So what are some ways that you can improve upon yourself? Maybe you need a boost in confidence. Many people do and when you bring your confidence to the next level your business won’t be able to stop it’s self from growing. Some people need to learn how to listen better or take direction.

Still others need to stop procrastinating. Whatever it is that you want to work on there are probably a ton of websites that you can visit for free or books and ebooks that you can purchase that will help you get where you want to go.

Try not to focus on improving 5 different things at once just work on one at a time and when you feel that you’ve mastered one move on to the other. Also, don’t just read a book and then forget about it. Really try to learn and retain what you’ve read and use it in your everyday life as well as your business.

You can also read a ton of books on how to be successful in business although, honestly most people need to be less focus on their business skills and more focused on their life skills.

Once you start to see an improvement in yourself an improvement in your check is soon to follow. So take a good hard look at yourself and start working to make yourself a better person because when you do you’ll see a whole lot more success in your home based business.

This article attempts to show you how you can use the internet (and websites) to maximize your business potential using simple internet marketing strategies.

Not A Company Website, But Your Own Website?

I am not refering to the ‘website’ that your company provides for you. Those sites are very limited in what you can do with them. Some folks say that they are not allowed to have a website of their own. It is true that you may not be able to have a ‘business’ website to advertise your business or product, however there is nothing stopping you from having a ‘personal’ website or blog.

With your own website or blog you are free to build relationships with your customers, automate your emails, fliers, announcements ,etc… You can automate the process of hostess coaching so that you hostesses get a constant, regular stream of instructions, hints, and ideas to make their shows succesful. Imagine a system that on a pre-scheduled basis, sends out training and motivational messages to your recruits and sales team. ( If you would like more information on setting up a system that can do these things email me at bruce@fasterdigital.com. Just say… “Tell me more about websites”)

I found this article on Psychotactics.com. It talks about why your business needs a website and how you can use it to communicate effectivly with your customers and sales team.

*******************************************

So What If You Don’t Have A Website?

Gasp! Choke! Gag! That’s how people react when you tell them your business does not have a website. So do you really need one? This article attempts to show you how you can use the internet (and websites) to maximize your business potential using simple internet marketing strategies.
Hello, Mr. Superman

If all you do is answer your e-mail promptly, respond to queries and conduct some sort of business over e-mail, you will be achieving more in one day than most websites do in a year!

Life Without Websites: C’est Possible!

Paper was the most effective method of making sure things were read – until e-mail came along. If you look at e-mail as a dynamic form of paper, you will be able to achieve the same (if not better) results in getting your message across convincingly. Unfortunately, most people look at e-mail as a letter writing tool instead of using it as a communication tool.

How to Use E-mail Powerfully!

The key to e-mail is to have a client database in the first place. Not just any database, but people who have worked with you. Secondly, it must be permission based. People must see your e-mail as being of help to them in their daily lives. Once you have their permission, you can e-mail them on a regular pre-agreed basis and be sure that they appreciate you keeping in touch with them.

A Very, Very Important Fact..

People don’t care about you or what you’re selling. All they’re concerned about is themselves. If your e-mail isn’t helping them in some way, they’ll read it once and trash it. You may never get a second chance! Make sure, your e-mail is about them, them, them!

Which Businesses Can Use E-mail?

We’ve not figured out how a funeral director can use it yet. Other than that, most businesses can use it extremely effectively!

So What Good Is A Website, After All?

Websites are online brochures. They save you time having to explain what your company does. Besides, there are millions of ways to harness the power of your website and actually increase your business. Don’t panic if you’re without a website right now. Use the power of e-mail today and plan your money making website tomorrow.
